Poiema

In the Greek language, the word “Poiema” means: “masterpiece; that which is made by God as creator.” My goal with Poiema Florals is to make every soul I come in contact with feel loved, seen, valued, and celebrated - as the Poiema they are. Whether it’s your wedding day or an event you’re hosting, it’s your day and your vision! I’m just along for the ride to help your vision come to life. There are many stressors when it comes to planning a wedding or hosting an event. Flowers won’t be one of them!

My Background in floral design

I graduated from the University of Alabama in 2010 with a degree in Apparel Design with all the dreams of being a custom wedding gown designer, however, I met my future husband shortly after starting college in 2007, and we were married two weeks after I graduated in May! We have four beautiful kids - Emri (8), Elijah (6), Esther (4), Ezra (2). The desire to create and design never left me, but I didn’t know the context in which I would do so. Then, after a brief stint in Dallas, TX, we moved back home to Birmingham and shortly after that I began working with one of my best friends, Staci Bledsoe with Laurel Greene Studio. I worked with Staci for three years, working as her right-hand gal. She birthed the talent and love for florals that is inside of me, that I never would have imagined I would have, and here we are today!

As one of my favorite florists says, “Floral design is working in harmony with nature. Celebrating and respecting the bounty that nature has… its effortless beauty working with the natural flow.” When designing, my goal is to let the medium do all the work- paying attention to the way each piece jukes and jives- not overworking it. Just letting them werk it! I love to have fun, and I want my designs to convey that same joy.
